Ampjack Industries Ltd. Introduces ExoGridTM: The Sustainable Solution for Grid Upgrade Challenges

ExoGrid revolutionizes grid capacity expansion with eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient solutions to meet the growing demands of a clean energy future.

August 1, 2024, Winnipeg, MB, Canada – Ampjack Industries Ltd. (“Ampjack”) is proud to announce the launch of ExoGridTM, an innovative and eco-friendly solution designed to address the critical challenges facing the power industry as it transitions to a future powered by clean energy. With the Department of Energy predicting a 57% increase in transmission capacity and a 120% boost in interregional transfer capacity by 2035, the need for efficient and sustainable grid upgrades has never been more urgent. ExoGrid offers a revolutionary approach to increasing grid capacity without the need for extensive new right-of-way acquisitions. By utilizing existing infrastructure, ExoGrid minimizes environmental disruption, preserves natural habitats, and reduces carbon emissions, all while delivering significant cost savings and faster project completion times. "Our mission with ExoGrid is to provide a sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient solution for the power industry," said Luke Chaput, President of Ampjack Industries Ltd. "ExoGrid enables us to expand transmission capacity in a fraction of the time compared to traditional methods, with minimal environmental impact and reduced regulatory hurdles." Nathan Stahl, Vice President of Engineering at Ampjack, added, "ExoGrid is not just a technological advancement; it's a comprehensive process that includes line analysis, phase configuration studies, foundation analysis, and conductor selection. This ensures that every upgrade is optimized for maximum efficiency and minimal disruption. Our innovative approach allows us to build new towers over existing ones, often reducing construction timelines and improving service reliability.”

Benefits of ExoGrid:
• Lower Cost for You and the Environment: ExoGrid eliminates the necessity of constructing new towers and acquiring new land rights, leveraging existing infrastructure to minimize environmental impact and preserve natural habitats.
• Reduced Timelines: ExoGrid streamlines overall project timelines by simplifying permitting, right-of-way acquisition, and environmental studies.
• Significantly Reduced Permitting: By using existing tower locations, ExoGrid simplifies the permitting process, reducing regulatory hurdles and enabling projects to proceed more smoothly.
• Maximized Efficiency: Utilizing the existing right of way for transmission lines, ExoGrid builds new towers over existing ones, minimizing land use and environmental impacts.
• Less Outage Time, More Power: ExoGrid's construction approach allows some upgrades to be completed while the lines remain in use, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous service reliability.
• The Safest Way to Upgrade a Grid: ExoGrid's innovative design and advanced safety features ensure secure and reliable interconnections with renewable energy sources, enhancing grid stability and minimizing potential hazards.
• Shore Up Your Grid: ExoGrid strengthens towers to withstand extreme weather events such as hurricanes and high winds.
ExoGrid is the ultimate solution for overcoming the challenges of new right-of-way acquisition, rapid technological advancements, and NIMBYism. By offering a streamlined, secure, and sustainable approach to grid upgrades, ExoGrid is set to revolutionize the power industry and pave the way for a cleaner, more efficient energy future. The TR 100 is a microprocessor-based single phase automatic transformer turns ratio test instrument. This field portable lightweight unit is housed in a field rugged case. The TR 100 is designed to test the turns ratio of transformers of any size per the IEEE C57.12.90 standard.
The PFRS-25 can confirm the mechanical integrity of a transformer by comparing the frequency response of the transformer with the previous known results. Every transformer has a unique frequency response system which changes if the mechanical geometry of the transformer is changed. These changes can occur due to physical movement or transportation. The physical geometry can also change if the transformer experiences high fault current due to internal or external fault. The fingerprint comparison of the frequency response system can be used to detect power transformer problems such as: * Core movements * Shorted turns or open windings * Winding displacements or deformations * Winding connection problems * Broken clamping structures
The LRM 200 is a microprocessor-based, true DC micro ohmmeter designed to test the contact resistance of circuit breaker contacts, switchgear, and bus bar joints. It is the instrument every test technician needs to have to maintain circuit breakers, switch gear and busbars. The LRM 200 is designed to meet the IEEE C37.09-1999, IEC62271-100 for GIS factory test and IEC62271-200 for high voltage switchboard factory test for testing circuit breaker contact resistance. The LRM 200’s wide measuring range is 1 micro Ohm to 5 Ohms with 0.1 micro ohm resolution with a current range of 10 A to 200 A. The LRM 200 injects a true DC current through the contacts under test and measures the contact resistance. It can compare the test results against the prescribed limit and make the pass/fail decision. As the rise and fall time is configurable for each test, no transients are induced in the associated apparatus such as current transformers. This avoids tripping of the relays. The LRM 200 is a lightweight (15 Lbs/7.5 kgs) instrument designed for portability and field use.

The Vacuum Circuit Breaker Analyzer 01 (VCBA 01) is Power Diagnostic Instrument Company’s state-of-the-art, field portable, light weight instrument designed for the comprehensive diagnostic testing of vacuum circuit breakers. The VCBA 01 can perform high voltage DC vacuum integrity tests as well as operating time tests on the circuit breaker main contacts. The VCBA 01 applies a test voltage to the vacuum bottle arcing chamber for the time specified in the test settings. While the test voltage is applied to the vacuum circuit breaker arching chamber, the instrument monitors the leakage current to the ground. If the leakage current to the ground remains lower than the set limit, the instrument registers the test as successful. If the leakage current exceeds the set limit, the instrument shuts down and removes the test voltage from the arcing chamber and registers the test as a failed test.
